Croozer Travel

$319.00

The Croozer Travel Trailer is a sturdy two wheeled flatbed trailer that works great for both travel and local use.

The Croozer Travel features peripheral railing around the bed. This railing keeps loads in place and provides excellent attachment points for strapping items down.

Another feature of the Croozer Travel is its innovative folding system. The wheels are easily removed by pushing on the hub buttons. The wheels are then stowed within the trailers cargo area by inserting the axles into the mounting holes in the trailer bed. The hitch arm can be folded back against the bottom of the trailer. The trailer is quickly converted into a very stow able, transportable size.

The rear of the trailer also has two luggage rollers. This allows for the trailer to be pulled as a luggage trolley, using the hitch arm as a handle.

I was torn between the Croozer Travel, the Croozer Cargo, the Burley Nomad and the Burley Flatbed. I ruled the Croozer Cargo out due to its lower carrying capacity and significantly heavier weight. However, I have not actually used or even seen one -- it appears to be an excellent value. I have used a Burley Flatbed, and a good friend has the Burley Nomad, so I've at least seen it up close. A key factor in my ultimate decision is that I only want to own one trailer, yet I want it to be versatile enough to both carry heavy / awkward objects for my utility cycling and also be suitable for touring. I think the Croozer Travel is perfect for this. I particularly like the Travel's low center of gravity, rigid platform, rail system and rear luggage wheels. It really is an elegant design-- very well thought out. IMHO, the Burly Flatbed is just a little too wide and it feels relatively unwieldy, whereas the cover system on the Nomad, although great for touring, makes it unsuitable for carry large, awkward items (e.g. the reel lawn mower I took to get sharpened on my Croozer Cargo this morning). The Travel's rear luggage wheels are fantastic when you move the trailer around by hand. I found with the Burly Flatbed that I kept scraping the back on the ground when moving it to and from the bike (I'm 6/2"). By just adding a dry bag, or even a Rubbermaid storage bin, I'm sure the Travel will be great for touring when I really want to load up. For serious touring, it seems that folks tend to favor single-wheeled trailers (e.g. BOBs), but I ruled those out because I can't imagine they'd be as convenient for utility cycling. My only negative comment: Currently, the only hitch readily available for the Croozer Travel is an axle mount. It's great on my bike for which I can use it but, unfortunately, it requires a decent amount of flat space on the dropout. One of my bikes has Breezer style dropouts, and the hitch won't work. However, I understand an "alternative hitch" that mounts to the chainstay is available, and the helpful folks at Bike Trailer Shop are looking into it. I'm hoping it is something similar to the "classic" Burley hitch, and if so I'll be totally set. These are clearly all excellent trailers, so I don't think one could go wrong with any of them. That said, I'm very happy with the Croozer Travel, but my best advice is to not agonize too much over which to get-- just get one! Now that I finally have a trailer, I'm kicking myself for not getting one sooner. Finally, I've been very happy with Bike Trailer Shop (fast shipping and easy, friendly communication about my order both over the phone and email.).

Easy to attach using the hitch provided. Solid and useful trailer good for hauling anything you can secure to the rails. We shop with a big plastic bin secured with bungee cords. This trailer is easy to pull and does not make the bike unstable. We have used the flatbed for hauling groceries, building supplies, and school supplies that would not otherwise fit on a bike. This dramatically increases the utility of a bicycle and cuts down on the car trips we need.

We purchased a Croozer flatbed in July 2007. Easy to set up and attached to a bike in less than 5 minutes. The extra hitch provided with the intital purchase is handy if a household has two bikes that will use the trailer. Use bungee cords hooked to the steel frame to secure bins for grocery shopping. Very stable design, good tracking, and it rolls quietly when loaded. This is a well-designed product. We use it for in-town grocery shopping and hauling school supplies to an elementary school classroom. The open flatbed is very useful for odd shaped loads. THe trailer folds up quickly and stores flat against a wall.
