The most significant change to a bicycle in converting to a Xtracycle FreeRadical is adding a longer chain. Because the Xtracycle FreeRadical extends your wheelbase 15", an Xtracycle chain must be extended by 30". If your current chain is stretched, rusty and worn and in need of replacement, we recommend purchasing a full length 86" chain.
The chain is manufactured by KMC. Chains for 6/7/8 speed setups are 7.1mm wide.
