The Adventure Kit is Xtracycle's newest kit for setting up an Xtracycle combines the ride and feel of an Xtracycle with the ruggedness, organization and handy features of your favorite panniers.
For turning your Xtracycle into the ultimate bike touring or commuting matching, the Adventure Kit includes 2 Adventure Racks, 1 TekDeck, 2 Cam Straps and 1 or 2 pair of Watchamacollars.
The heart of the Adventure Kit are the two Adventure Racks which provide an upper 10mm "Adventure Rack rail" for the upper mounting points of panniers. The bottom of your panniers rest against the Free Radical Frames tubing. 2 sets of cam straps are provided for cinching the bottom of the panniers down. The TekDeck pulls the Adventure Racks into a narrower more aerodynamic profile and acts as a fender and loading deck. The Adventure Kit comes with your choice of 1 or 2 Watchamacollars. 1 set on the front of either side is sufficient for locking the kit on. 2 sets are recommended for keeping the Adventure Kit system extra tight and secure for off-road/rough road adventures. 2 sets are also recommended if you'd like to run the Adventure Racks without the TekDeck at times.
The Adventure Kit is available as an option on the 26" or 700c Xtracycle kit. If you already have a FreeRadical Base Kit, the Adventure Kit will upgrade your Xtracycle to a complete adventure ready machine. It also can be purchased to outfit a longtail bike built on the Xtracycle longtail standard such as the Surly Big Dummy.
