The Carry Freedom City Bike Trailer is a favorite among those who like to travel with their bike. The City is lightweight, versatile, and folds easily for compact storage. Your gear can be loaded in the courier bag, and an additional bag can be loaded and secured on top using the outer frame as a platform. When off the bike, the hitch arm acts as a luggage arm, for easy navigation through busy airports or train stations. The hitch arm also has an adjustable height mechanism to adjust to the wheel size of any bike.
The 70 Liter courier bag has reflective piping and heavy duty water-resistant nylon edging. The bag can be reinforced with your favorite coating for ensured waterproofness in rainy climates. Product Reviews
Well where to start... the Carry Freedom City is quite simply an awesome
trailer. The design looks complex but it is very simple to unfold and fold and the engineering is first rate. I have used the trailer a dozen times now for hauling shopping, carrying close to the maximum 45 kilos and riding a distance of approximately 20 miles. It handles brilliantly, is well balanced and if it weren't for a small rattle in the hitch pin you would hardly notice it was there. Rough roads don't seem to faze the trailer as much as I thought they would one with small wheels.
Another reason I really like this trailer is that it's so unassuming. It almost looks a little like the shopping trundlers that little old ladies use. I have taken it into the supermarket up and down aisles and into all kinds of other shops that you might not take a more utilitarian looking trailer.
If you think the 70 litre bag is a little small, the Ortlieb Large Pack Rack fits perfectly on top giving you a total of 120 litres. Believe me you would not want to be riding up too many hills with both of them full. I can get a weeks worth of shopping, including organic fruit and vegetables for three people in one load.
The small wheels at the base come in handy when I'm putting the trailer away, sliding it on end between the car and my scooter, it then collapses easily and hangs on the garage wall.
Any issues? Just a couple of minor ones, I initially found that I could not pump up the tyres using any of my pumps, there just wasn't room between the valve and the wheel rim. Topeak make a right angle valve adaptor called a Pressure Rite which does the job.
And the other thing, if you ride a 700c commuter you do have to take right hand turns gently or you will nudge the hitch arm. Thats about it.
And last but not least, the service I have received from Josh at The Biketrailershop.com has been second to none.
Five stars for this Trailer.......
